Team Bass King's Capt. Chris Mautino sent in some pics from a recent surf/fishing trip "The Baja". No freshwater bassin' here; but, monster Calico Bass lurk the Pacific coast's kelp forests in search of a meal. Simply put: these bass are mean.

The swimbait is king when it comes to winter bass fishing in Southern California. Most of the area lakes are stocked with Rainbow Trout in the colder months - the largemouth and stripers really hone in and feed on these "baitfish".
