PALATKA, FL – The 2012 B.A.S.S. Elite Tournament Series kicked off this St. Paddy’s Day weekend.  For Alton Jones, the “Luck ‘O the Irish” seemed to be on his side through and through.  Going into Day Three, he felt shaky, even with a 9-pound lead.  But, nevertheless, the Woodway, Texas Pro prevailed, outweighing Todd Faircloth (Jasper, TX) by 1lb., 2oz.  Jones received his Pot ‘O Gold, a $100,000 payday and an automatic berth in the 2013 Bassmaster Classic.

Bass King Pro, Keith Combs, had a great showing this weekend, finishing third with 71lbs., 2oz.  The Pro from Huntington, Texas was able to overcome a 46th place Day One finish to taking the podium after the final weigh-in.

Elite Series competition resumes this week with the Power-Pole Slam on Florida’s famed Lake Okeechobee.  The event begins Thursday (3/22), ending on Sunday (3/25), and will be held at C. Scott Driver Park, Highway 78 West in Okeechobee, FL.
