Baja California, Mexico

Team Bass King's Capt. Chris Mautino sent in some pics from a recent surf/fishing trip "The Baja".  No freshwater bassin' here; but, monster Calico Bass lurk the Pacific coast's kelp forests in search of a meal.  Simply put: these bass are mean.

"I just spent about 5 days in between a couple NW swell surf sessions chucking over-sized swimbaits from the rocks and points in Mex. Connected with some chunky checkerboards. Better days produced 15-20 fish in the 4-8lb range. Beautiful remote coastline choked full of beautiful bruiser bass with no one in sight for miles. Nothing less than 65lb spectra and a buttoned down drag will pull these fish out from the structure tight to the shore. What a blast! Cheers."
